Terror - Keepers Of The Faith

Terror
Keepers Of The Faith
Century Media Records/E.M.I. Music Australia

After teasing fans with the release of their limited edition "Keepers Of The Faith" seven inch single earlier in the year (Which included two tracks from their forthcoming album, the previously unreleased "Never See Your Face Again" and the cover of Subzero’s "Boxed In"), long running Los Angeles (California, U.S.) based metallic hardcore outfit Terror are finally back with their long awaited follow-up to 2008’s "The Damned, The Shamed" in "Keepers Of The Faith".
Although having undergone some line-up changes in the two years since their last album, Terror (Who now comprise vocalist Scott Vogel, guitarists Jordan Posner (Ex-No Warning) and Martin Stewart, bassist David Wood (Ex-Down To Nothing) and drummer Nick Jett) still remain true to the sound that made them so influential in the first place, with their latest release "Keepers Of The Faith" (And fifth overall) picking up exactly where the band last left things a couple of years ago.
From the moment the opening track "Your Enemies Are Mine" begins, it’s clear that Terror have no interest in reinventing the wheel (Or metallic hardcore for that matter). In keeping with the title of the album’s message, Terror gives listeners exactly what they expect, which remains true to the band’s trademark sound, and one that remains as potent as ever. Devoid of any obvious filler, or unnecessary gimmicks to get their message across, Terror roar through thirteen tracks of first class metallic hardcore, much of which fans will have no trouble embracing within moments of hearing.
Terror’s relatively new rhythm section is as impeccable as ever, while Vogel’s lyrical and vocal presence throughout the album never falls below the standards set with previous releases.
There are highlights littered throughout the album, but worthy of an extra mention include the fast paced "Stick Tight" (Which was included on the band’s seven inch release from a couple of months ago), the crushing melodic groove of "Return To Strength", the intense speed of "The Struggle", the slower "You’re Caught", the anthem like "Stay Free" and the catchy "Only Death".
Never ones to stray too far from what they’ve perfected, Terror have remained one of the more consistent and trustworthy metallic hardcore acts on the scene for some years. And true to the phrase that adorns their latest release, Terror remains the "Keepers Of The Faith" on their latest release once again.
